Another Golden day for the Great Britain Eventing Team as they break all records
Britain has become the most successful Olympic eventing nation in history with five team gold medals and Germany’s Michael Jung becomes first three-time individual champion.

In glorious Versailles sunshine, in front a packed stadium of wildly enthusiastic spectators, the British team of Rosalind Canter ( Lordships Graffalo ), Tom McEwen ( JL Dublin ) and Laura Collett ( London 52 ) clinched team gold, while Germany’s Michael Jung ( Chipmunk FRH ) took the individual Eventing title at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

The French hosts had to settle for silver ahead of Japan who held their nerve after having to call up their reserve combination following the final Horse Inspection this morning.

I say again that support for one breed or stud book does not preclude us from also supporting another breed or stud book, and virtually all stud books are included in the list of modern eventing champions below. But it is the Thoroughbred that makes the biggest contribution to them, yet receives little recognition.

In July 2019 I was at the Junior European Eventing Championships in The Netherlands with a student. When watching the dressage I fell in love with a very attractive grey horse. Immediately after the test I went over to ask her how he was bred. “He’s Holstein” she said. “I see” I replied. “How much Thoroughbred?” “No, he’s Holstein,” she responded, no Thoroughbred.” Later on I looked up his breeding and he was ¾ Thoroughbred!
