Owned by Avonbrook Stud, Marcus Aurelius is certificated 86.99% Crabbet (remainder Old English / Davenport) with several important performance and show lines including a direct sire line to Nasik through his grand-sire Ben Rabba. He is closely related to successful race, endurance and show horses through both sides of his pedigree.
Marcus was graded with NaStA in 2008 and has continued to perform with wins showjumping (105cm), elementary level dressage (qualified for Hartpury College elementary championships to be held in May 2012) and arena eventing (BE90) to his name. In 2010 a change of direction saw him in the ridden show ring with Kirsty Brown where he proved to be extremely consistent and finished his first full showing season by taking 4th place at HOYS, following several championships and reserve championships both under saddle and in hand.
In 2011, Marcus made a few ridden showing appearances upholding his record of never being unplaced and finishing the season with a supreme ridden championship, ridden by a 12 year old. His main focus was, however, his delayed introduction to endurance. He shows a genuine flair for this sport upgrading to Open level after 3 rides with 2 grade 1`s. The intention is to continue up the distances in 2012 with the aim of upgrading to advanced during the year. His progeny to date have all inherited his trainable temperament and have had numerous successes in the showring including several championships and a supreme championship. His 2 eldest part-bred sons are now rising 6 and are demonstrating good athletic ability both on the flat and over fences in addition to them gaining a reserve ridden championship apiece showing under saddle. Both over 16hh, they are both ridden by juniors. His first pure-bred daugter is rising 2 and will be making her first appearances in Crabbet in-hand showing classes this year.
