As it became known yesterday, Andreas Helgstrand and Ludger Beerbaum are founding the “Global Equestrian Group”. This is not about a merger, but about a partnership between Ludger Beerbaum Stables, Helgstrand Dressage and the investment group Waterland Private Equity. Ludger Beerbaum becomes managing director.

The following press release about the new partnership comes from the show jumping stable:

“The founding of the Global Equestrian Group is an expression of the new strategic partnership between the internationally recognized German company Ludger Beerbaum Stables GmbH, (consisting of a sports and trading stable for show jumping horses, a stallion station and the modern equestrian center Riesenbeck International), Helgstrand Dressage - one of the the world's leading equestrian company with modern sales and training centers in Denmark, Germany and the USA - as well as Waterland Private Equity. The Global Equestrian Group is taking over Ludger Beerbaum Stables - Ludger Beerbaum remains its managing director.

In total, the new partnership will employ more than 150 people, be present in four countries and have a turnover of more than EUR 60 million. The Global Equestrian Group also includes the jewelry company Helgstrand Denmark, the equestrian clothing company Kingsland Equestrian and other companies in the hippological field. The majority owner of Helgstrand Dressage, Waterland Private Equity, will support the newly established partnership and will also be the majority shareholder of the group.

BEERBAUM LOOKS FORWARD TO WORKING WITH YOU

“I am excited to partner with Helgstrand Dressage and Waterland to accelerate our businesses' progress and create a global leader in equestrianism. We would like to unleash the potential of combining dressage and show jumping. By working with my new partners, I can continue our show jumping activities and continue our growth and expansion plans, ”says Ludger Beerbaum. The seven-time Olympic participant and four-time gold medalist for show jumpers at the Olympic Games is the founder of the Ludger Beerbaum Stables.

The equestrian center Riesenbeck International will be expanded and renovated this spring, 300 permanent stables and new clay courts will be built. The Global Equestrian Group will also expand the activities relating to the training of young horses, breeding and horse trading at the Ludger Beerbaum Stables and thus create a solid platform to organically expand the presence in the large and attractive show jumping market.

“The Ludger Beerbaum Stables have an excellent reputation and an outstanding sporting track record in show jumping. The strategic direction and the common ideas just fit together perfectly with Helgstrand Dressage. We look forward to pooling our experience and diversifying our business activities at the same time. They should include show jumping and dressage as well as other exciting equestrian activities in the existing and new markets, ”says Andreas Helgstrand, two-time Olympic participant and Olympic bronze medalist in dressage, who founded Helgstrand Dressage in 2008.

SHOW JUMPING MARKET BIGGER

The global market for show jumpers is significantly larger than the dressage market. In total, the Global Equestrian Group will address a combined market of more than 30 billion euros and expand the strong global position of the group and that of the independent brands in order to exploit sales synergies and to expand in new regions.

“We are very pleased to support the emergence of a real world market leader in equestrian sport by continuing to bring our practical experience and targeted investments into the Global Equestrian Group. We will drive new markets and other interesting acquisition opportunities in line with our strategy of accelerating growth, ”says Kaspar Kristiansen, Managing Director of Waterland Nordic.

The daily management of the Ludger Beerbaum Stables and Helgstrand Dressage remains unchanged. The two founders will invest in the Global Equestrian Group alongside Waterland. The parties have agreed not to provide any information about the purchase price. "
